All-In, Coronavirus Time

In the world today we are seeing fewer people and going fewer places. For most of us, this means we are not doing as many of the things we enjoy as would normally be the case. This is a good reminder that we seldom choose our circumstances — but we can always choose what we do within them.

When our routines are disrupted, we have new opportunities to choose what to do, starting with what we most want to do for ourselves. Whatever we can choose that allows us to be totally immersed in the moment is a good way to start: I want to devote my entire attention, will take joy in working until I am finished, and want to leave nothing undone.

When stuck at home, or when at work with fewer interruptions, we have time to do things we typically don’t do. Rather than complain about being bored or stuck at home or whatever, we can take the time do do something Exuberantly Joyful:

Bake bread, cook an old recipe or a new one, work on the yard, go for a walk, curl up with a book, binge-watch TV, listen to your favorite music as loudly as you want, play a game with family, meditate.

This is a time to take advantage of the opportunity to do things that we seldom have “time” to do. That makes for a time of discovery and experimentation in the things we want to do. May you find yourself lost in time, coming to an awareness of accomplishing something almost magical.
